One has to wonder how the hell Winter Olympics competitors from warm-weather countries are able to find the time (and access to proper conditions) to practice for and compete with the best athletes in the world.
Case in point, the Brazilian bobsled team.
In their training session today, Brazilian women’s pair Fabiana Santos and Sally da Silva were shaky from the start of their run, but things got ugly just over halfway down the 1,325-meter course (roughly eight tenths of a mile) when, on one of the steepest turns, their bobsled got airborne and fell on its side. The continued down the rest of the track on their side.
NBC has the video of the crash which looks awful—the two are repeatedly slammed into the wall head first. Despite the visual nature of the wreck, reports are that the two suffered no injuries and plan to compete tomorrow.
