Don’t over think the headline or even try to comprehend it for that matter. Just read it. Appreciate it. And let the rest happen.
All you need to know is that four-time NASCAR Winston Nextel Sprint Cup Series Champion Jeff Gordon was at the Verizon Center on Tuesday night to watch the Washington Wizards take on the San Antonio Spurs. Aside from just taking in the game, Gordon spent some time with the players, did some media interviews, and, because it’s in his DNA, burned some rubber on the court.
In a first-half timeout promotion, the Wizards invited the NASCAR superstar and some random peon onto the hardwood and pitted them against one another in a short race that involved some blue safety cones and two tricycles. Needless to say, Joe Shmo stood absolutely no chance. Gordon demolished his competition and clearly enjoyed every single second of the race.

That look of pure joy on his face… You’d think he was reliving some childhood dream of his where he would pretend that he was a professional race car driver…
And he celebrated the win like only a true champion could: By tweeting about it almost immediately after it was over.
1st win of the 2015 season! Trike race @WashWizards game. @DISupdates #DAYTONA500

So yeah, all of that happened.
